"HCP030404-3/4/66 - Glendale, Calif: Pat Paulsen is an
artist who gets involved in his work. He daubs paint on a
canvas (L) and then, instead of a conventional brush,
spreads it with his beard. He does a few jaw swirls, a nose
daub or two, and then hoists himself on a steel tri-pod (R)
with a rope for the finale. Paulsen swirls and swoops over
the canvas upside down. A reviewer looks at a finished work
and comments: "He's no painter, but he's a good
paintbrush". (SEE ALSO HCPO30405)"

GIRDLED IN OLD GLORY
Freeport, New York: An undergarment manufacturer withdrew
August 26 a panty girdle (modeled here in the long-legged
and brief styles) called "Star 'N Stripes" from
the market as a result of protests from the DAR and some
retailers. The fate of the unmarketed girdles is unknown, by
the manufacturer speculated that they might be given to a
"foreign charity."

Rome: Two worlds meet in this backyard
behind Rome's via Margutta, where local artists hold their
annual outdoor art show. On the street level, painters
exhibit their works, hoping for a sale. Up above them, the
washing dries. Even with the art show and the influx of
visitors to the area, the housewives of via Margutta have to
carry on as usual.
